API Terms of Use

By accessing and using CNN’s API (the "NewsGraph API", “CNN API” or “API”), you explicitly agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions (the "API Terms of Use"), which CNN may change at any time. Please review these terms and conditions periodically and check the version date for changes.

1. Service. The CNN API is a service (the “Service”) made available to you by Cable News Network, Inc. (“CNN”) that allows pre-approved licensees to retrieve certain text, photos, video, graphics, music and/or sound from CNN.  The use of the Service is also subject to the terms and conditions of the CNN Interactive Service Agreement, which governs the use of CNN's websites, information services and content.  CNN reserves the right to modify or discontinue the Services or a portion or attribute thereof, or the offering of any information, good, content, product or service with or without notice. CNN shall not be liable to you or any third party should CNN exercise its right to modify or discontinue the Service or part of it.

2. Use of CNN API: The Service is offered by CNN for non-public, internal, trial purposes only.  Any other uses, including without limitation, inclusion or display in or along with any products or services that are made available to the public are prohibited.  CNN reserves the right, without notice and in our sole discretion, to terminate your license to use the APIs, and to block or prevent future access to and use of the API.

• You may not retain any copies of any content, data or information made available via the CNN API (“Content”).

• You may not present the Content (or permit the Content to be presented) so that it appears to be available from a third party Web site.

• You further agree not to otherwise reproduce, modify, distribute, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer any portion of the Content or the Service.

•You are limited to one thousand (1000) calls to the CNN API per day. CNN may approve higher daily call limits if you adhere to these API Terms of Use and pass a CNN review.

3. API Key: All calls to the CNN API must reference the API Key issued to you as an approved licensee. You agree to keep the API Key confidential, and not to share it with any third party. This license is personal to you, and any affiliates must seek and obtain their own license and API Key. You may not sell, lease, share, transfer, or sublicense the CNN APIs or access or access codes thereto or derive income from the use or provision of the CNN APIs, whether for direct commercial or monetary gain or otherwise, without CNN's prior, express, written permission.

If at any time you become aware of any unauthorized use of the API Key issued to you or a breach of these terms and conditions in connection with the API Key issued to you, then you agree to notify CNN promptly of such breach or unauthorized use by e-mail to developer@cnn.com, and to take prompt commercially reasonable corrective action at your expense to remedy such breach or unauthorized use. In addition, upon request of CNN, you will either (a) use commercially reasonable efforts to obtain such equitable relief to prevent harm to CNN or its licensors, or (b) assign any of your applicable rights to permit CNN, Inc. or the applicable licensor to seek such equitable relief.
